  • A Napa man facing trial for attempted murder now faces a felony charge for punching a fellow inmate at the county jail — officials said.  Napa Valley Register

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Joshua Schultz begins his tenure as the superintendent for the Napa County Office of Education and draws on over 30 years of experience in education. He is expected to advance initiatives that will improve the county’s school programs.  Napa Valley Register

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Napa County announced a $1.1 billion climate action plan that will aim for net zero emissions by 2045 and may cut greenhouse gas emissions by 85% in the county and its cities. Officials added that the plan could affect residents through new policies & measures to improve air quality over time.  Napa Valley Register

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On August 5, the Napa County Board of Supervisors met and approved measures such as waiving fees for adopting an 81-lb Akita named Chica, naming Farmers Market Week and Child Support Awareness Month, reappointing a member to the NVTA Citizen Advisory Committee, and signing contracts for a new library catalog, climate action plan, and local improvements. The Board also asked for more study on limiting new fossil fuel stations and reviewed the draft Napa Regional Climate Action and Adaptation Plan, with their next meeting scheduled for Tuesday, August 19 at 9 a.m. —  County of Napa
