COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Fuller Park will receive new playground equipment designed with input from local groups. The project will start in August and continue until February — adding interactive, artistic play areas for local families — to update the park.  City of Napa

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Today, Thomas Keller opens Burgers and Half Bottles, a 10-week pop-up restaurant in the former La Calendar restaurant at 6518 Washington St. in Yountville — the restaurant will serve burgers, fries, and half bottles of wine.  Napa Valley Register
  • Union workers at Napa Valley Westlake Royal Stone Solutions are on strike indefinitely and are demanding better pay, benefits, and safer working conditions.  Napa Valley Register

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Napa County education and health officials urge parents to update their children's vaccinations as school nears — they recommend that vaccination checks appear at the top of back-to-school lists.  Napa Valley Register

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Napa County is inviting residents to review and comment on a draft Regional Climate Action and Adaptation Plan aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and addressing climate risks. A presentation on the plan will be held at the County Board of Supervisors meeting on August 5 and residents can also attend one of three in-person workshops on August 20, 21, or 27 — feedback is open until September 30.  County of Napa

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Napa Yard is asking for city approval to add amplified music + mini-golf to its offerings, and the Planning Commission will vote soon on the proposed permit changes.  Napa Valley Register
