- ➤ The Boys & Girls Clubs of Napa Valley named Jaime Gallegos as its permanent executive director after his brief interim tenure following Greg Bouillerce’s abrupt removal in May—he will now lead the club as it moves forward. Napa Valley Register
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Napa County sheriff's detectives are investigating the death of a woman found at a home in the rural Coombsville area (east of Napa). Napa Valley Register
- ➤ Napa Police said they are seeking Ramiro Ochoa Mendoza, 36 — in connection with the death of Noel Batres, who was found on July 3 beneath the east pier of the Third Street bridge near Soscol Avenue. Napa Valley Register
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Obras Públicas is advancing projects to upgrade key commercial corridors in Napa—Jefferson Street, Lincoln Avenue, and Imola Avenue—to improve safety, mobility and local commerce. The Jefferson Street project has hired a traffic engineering firm and scheduled community meetings while Lincoln Avenue construction will start later this year and design work for Imola Avenue is underway—both moves that aim to boost connectivity and economic activity. - ➤ Napa Public Works is repaving Second Street using durable thermoplastic materials to create colorful crosswalks that meet AB 413 and improve pedestrian visibility. The project combines efforts with Parks & Recreation, local businesses, and residents and features a community design—Los Perros de la Calle Segunda—that includes local dog images such as Burt Reynolds from Jennifer Owen. - ➤ Julie Lucido, the city’s Public Works Director, said the department is using new funds from Measure G to repair streets, sidewalks, and parks in Napa. The council approved a two-year budget with more than $15 million for street repairs and over $10 million for parks—projects on Browns Valley Road, Coombs and Jefferson streets will soon begin.
