CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Napa County jury on Thursday acquitted former American Canyon school principal Andrew Goff—accused of failing to report child abuse—after an American Canyon coach was arrested and imprisoned for sexually abusing a student. Napa Valley Register
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Napa Valley Education Foundation and the Yountville Chamber of Commerce will host the inaugural Yountville Table fundraiser on July 19 to support local education initiatives. Napa Valley Register
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Napa County has decided to convert its $17 million reentry facility into a Behavioral Health Treatment Center — the new center will offer mental health services to local residents. Napa Valley Register
- ➤ Napa City Council appointed five local residents to the Measure G Citizen Oversight Committee at the May 20 meeting to review spending from a one-cent sales tax that funds road repairs, park improvements and emergency services. The new committee members began their two-year terms as the city started using the funds and will check financial audits and budgets (City Manager Steve Potter said the move ensures transparency). - ➤ The city of Napa is proposing a rate increase for trash and recyclable collection—the change follows new state laws, rising energy costs and planned facility improvements—and it is the first increase since 2022. Napa Valley Register
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Le Colline filed a new vineyard application with Napa County because its old plan was controversial in 2023 — county officials will review the redesigned project. Napa Valley Register
